Thank Someone, Truly.
We often forget to say thank you.
I’m not talking about the quick “thanks” you say when someone holds the door open for you out of courtesy.
No, I’m talking about a deliberate thank you, for something specific, or someone special.
Sometimes it’s easy to find the reason and the words to thank people.
This blog won the Creative Communications 2nd Year Blog of the Year Award a couple of weeks ago.
I got to stand up in front of my wonderful peers in CreComm, and people from the industry, and thank them for supporting my blog. But I would also like to thank YOU for supporting my blog, and me. This blog would just be another pile of words on the internet without awesome people like you reading it. You shared this blog with your friends when I talked about my suicide attempts, and stuck with me as I wrote about the struggle that I, and so many others with any type of mental health issues might have.
You sent me encouraging emails, shared your stories with me, and hopefully this blog helped anyone feeling like I did find their way to the help they needed, or opened the eyes of friends to the plight of those closest to them.
I am truly thankful to all of you.
I’m also thankful, specifically, to my mom, Sharon.
She’s always supported me, and put up with me not liking to be told what to do. She’s taken stressful things off my plate so that I could focus on getting my life together, both from a health perspective, and a job perspective.
And speaking of jobs, I have one!
After a three week work placement at Cruise Media Group, Ryan Cruise decided that I was worth keeping on to work there full time. I’d like to thank the whole crew at Cruise for being really welcoming, and I feel like I’m getting a massive chance to showcase my creative talents, as well as my passion for technology and video. So, look forward to me occasionally posting about the awesome things that I get to do at work!
And finally, I’d like to thank my CreComm family and all my friends and family for being a totally stellar, completely rad group of people.
You’ve all supported me so much, and I will strive to return that support and love in an unquantifiable but surely massive way.
I wish I could look deep into everyone’s eyes, put a gentle hand on your shoulders, and say thank you in person for being the special people you are.
Find one friend and do the same today. I’m sure it will mean the world to them.
