We like to think that what we do is important.

When we start making, building, writing, promoting, or speaking, we think that the words we say and the things we make matter.

We like to think that what we do is important.

When we start making, building, writing, promoting, or speaking, we think that the words we say and the things we make matter.

They don’t.

Not to everyone.

But maybe they matter to someone.

Finding that someone that cares about what you do is hard.

You could end up looking for your entire life for someone to care about what you do.

Every second you live without having someone to witness what you do and actually find meaning and power and inspiration is going to hurt.

It’s going to hurt so bad.

There are going to be days that feel like every part of you is on fire to build something great. To say something monumental. To make a difference that shakes the world.

And that feeling will come crashing down into a pit of despair when you realize that there might not be anyone there who wants to hear what you have to offer.

But then one day, you’ll look in the mirror.

You’ll look in the mirror and the person staring back at you will be someone willing to listen.

You’ll look in the mirror and see a desire to know more.

And with that person in the mirror backing you up, you’ll find the courage to speak up and share what you’ve created.

Or at least be happy that you made it for yourself.
